A Prayer for Quiet Trust
Not every prayer is a request. Some are just a place to rest.
God,
Nothing is wrong today,
and I'm still learning
how to be here without bracing.
I've gotten so used to holding on
that letting go feels like carelessness.
It isn't. I know it isn't.
Teach my body what my mind already believes.
I don't need to understand everything.
I don't need to have it settled.
I don't need to prove that my faith is working.
Let trust be quiet.
Not loud, not certain, not performed —
just a steady, unremarkable confidence
that I am held whether or not I feel it.
Loosen my grip, gently.
Slow my breathing.
Let me be a person who can rest
without waiting for the next hard thing.
For this hour,
I'm not carrying it.
Amen.
"In quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
